Preaching

At our church, the preaching of God's Word is central to our worship. We devote the majority of our Sunday worship to it. Preaching at our church may be described as:

  • Expository: Expository preaching is explaining Scripture in its historical, grammatical, and redemptive context and applying its truths practically to our lives. We typically spend an hour explaining and applying Scripture in each sermon.
  • Lectio Continua: Meaning continuous reading in Latin, this means we preach through consecutive passages of Scripture each Sunday. Although we also have topical or stand-alone sermons or series, we believe preaching primarily through entire books of Scripture is the best way to teach the whole counsel of God.

We believe that preaching is a means of grace that the Holy Spirit uses to renew our minds, strengthen our faith, increase our love, and spur us to joyful obedience.
