The Destruction
Preacher: Todd Odenath Series: The Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 13:1–2
Perhaps the most shocking thing Jesus said to His disciples is found in Mark 13:1-2, where Jesus says, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
The colossal structure of that temple represented not only their religious identity but also a sense of stability in divine favor. Yet Jesus pointing to its destruction seems like the end of the world as they know it.
As we see what Jesus means by this prophecy, we too must consider where we place our sense of stability and divine favor.
