The Coming

Have you ever struggled to stay awake when something important is on the line—whether it's waiting for key news, preparing for a big exam, or staying focused on a long drive? In moments like these, staying alert can be a real challenge, even when the consequences of getting tired can be deadly. But what about staying alert in a deeper sense—spiritually, when the stakes are even higher?

In Mark 13:24–37, Jesus calls his disciples to “stay awake” in watchful anticipation of His return. 

Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. (Mark 13:33).

At that time, believers prepared for His imminent arrival, and they adjusted their lives accordingly. But now, after thousands of years of waiting, how does His promise of return shape the way we live, work, and worship?
