A New Pharaoh and an Old Promise
Preacher: Todd Odenath Series: Exodus Scripture: Exodus 1:1–22
In Exodus 1, we see the people of God growing from a family into a nation. But a new Pharaoh does not know Joseph and all that he did for Egypt, and so he grows in fear of them. Even as this new king seeks to oppress them, God is quietly fulfilling His promises. As Exodus 1:12 says:
“But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad.” (Ex. 1:12a)
Pharaoh and the Egyptians were driven by fear—fear of God's people, fear of losing control, fear of what they could not understand. That fear led to oppression, cruelty, and attempted destruction.
In this sermon, we’ll consider how we too are tempted to fear man more than we fear God—and how Christ leads us out of fear into a resting faith in Him
