The Blood of the Lamb
Preacher: Todd Odenath Series: Exodus Scripture: Exodus 11:1– 12:51
We all tend to minimize judgment. When we feel justified, busy, or surrounded by others who seem worse, we assume that if trouble comes, it won’t come to me. But Scripture reminds us that you cannot escape God’s justice, unless you have a substitute.
In this sermon, in Exodus 11–12, God announces a final plague and provides a way of escape. This is not by any effort of God's people, but through the blood of a lamb.
The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you… (Exodus 12:13, ESV)
In these chapters we’ll see not only how God delivered Israel, but how He made a distinction between those under judgment and those covered by grace. This ancient night of deliverance points us to the shed blood that still delivers sinners from divine judgment.
