Delivered Through Difficulty
Preacher: Todd Odenath Series: Exodus Scripture: Exodus 13:1– 14:31
Do you sometimes wonder where God is taking you? Do the clear plans you once had seem to be heading in a direction you never expected? The road feels long, and the trials stack up. God’s guidance, while promised, often feels anything but straightforward.
In Exodus 13–14 God deliberately detours Israel, not by the shortest route, but by the right one: to the edge of the Red Sea. With Pharaoh’s army closing in from behind, it looks like a trap. It feels like failure. But in that moment, Moses gives this reassurance from the Lord: “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:13–14, ESV)
What happens next is truly miraculous.
Though the path may seem wrong to us, we can trust that Christ walks before us. He has passed through the deep waters of judgment in our place to bring us safely through.
