The Rock & The Banner

Thirsty and angry, the people were ready to stone Moses. This was not the redemption they had expected when they left Egypt. Then, as if things couldn’t get worse, a desert tribe attacks. Had God led them out only to abandon them?

In Exodus 17, the people cry out, ‘Is the Lord among us or not?’ (v. 7)—a cry many of us know firsthand.

Their circumstances seem to get worse as they are farther away from Egypt. Had God led them out only to abandon them in the wilderness?

In this sermon be ready to behold Jesus, our smitten Rock, who satisfies the thirsty, and our ever-raised Banner, under whom we find everlasting victory.
