No Other Gods

The First Commandment is foundational, as it calls us to wholehearted devotion to the Lord and exposes how easily our hearts turn to false gods. From the named idols of the ancient world to the unnamed idols of our own day (wealth, success, pleasure, and self) this commandment searches us deeply. Yet the good news is that in Jesus Christ, the true God has made Himself known. Where we fail, He has perfectly obeyed, and by faith in Him alone we worship the one God as He deserves.
