During this holiday season, we go out of our way to be with others. We gather, travel, and fill our calendars because being alone feels wrong. At the same time, this season often reminds us of who is missing, who is far away, or who is no longer with us. And even when our time together is good, it never quite feels complete. Eventually, everyone goes home.
That raises a deeper question. If we work so hard not to be alone for a few days each year, what about the rest of our lives?
In this sermon, we will look at Matthew 1:18–25 and consider how the incarnation answers that longing. God does not merely give us companionship. He gives us Himself. In Jesus Christ, God with us addresses the deep loneliness that no human relationship alone can finally resolve.
