What does it take to be reconciled to a holy God?
In Exodus 25, God instructs Israel to build a sanctuary so that He may dwell in their midst. The people bring willing contributions of gold and skill, yet at the center of God’s dwelling stands the Ark of the Covenant and the mercy seat. This sermon traces the biblical theme of reconciliation.
While human relationships teach us that real reconciliation requires cost, Scripture shows that reconciliation with God requires more than apology or effort. It requires blood. The mercy seat, covered year after year in sacrificial blood, points forward to Jesus Christ, whose once-for-all sacrifice opens the true Holy of Holies and reconciles sinners to God.
