A Garment for Glory and for Beauty
Preacher: Todd Odenath Series: Exodus Scripture: Exodus 28:1–43
Have you ever stopped to consider the significance of what you are wearing?
Not in terms of fashion or preference, but in terms of appropriateness. There are places where what you wear does not matter much, and there are places where it determines whether you may enter at all.
Exodus 28 is a chapter that describes the garments of Israel’s high priest. God commands that the priest be clothed in holy garments “for glory and for beauty.” Without them, he cannot stand in God’s presence and live.
In this sermon, we will see why God required such garments, what they signified, and how they expose a deeper problem we all share. We are not fit to stand before a holy God in clothing of our own making. We need a perfect garment God Himself provides.
