In Exodus 29 Aaron and his sons are ordained as priests. The chapter describes how they were washed, clothed, anointed with oil, and marked with the blood of sacrifice as they were set apart to serve the LORD.
These details show the seriousness of approaching a holy God. They also point forward to Jesus Christ, the true Anointed One and perfect priest of our salvation.
Through Him, believers are now called a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), set apart to serve God with our whole lives.
