The Character of The LORD

In Exodus 33:17-34:10, Moses asks to see the glory of the LORD. God answers by passing by and proclaiming His name—not revealing a visible form, but declaring His character: merciful, gracious, and sovereign in justice and mercy (Exodus 34:6–7).

This passage shows that God’s glory is His character. To know His glory is to know who He is.

Our fallen nature distorts both God’s mercy and His justice, leading us to remake Him in our own image. Here, God corrects us by declaring Himself. This sermon traces the request, preparation, and proclamation of God’s glory, and shows how His character is fully revealed in Jesus Christ.
