What makes a heart truly generous?
In Exodus 35:4–29, Moses calls the people of Israel to bring a contribution for the tabernacle. The LORD is preparing to dwell among His redeemed people, and the materials for His dwelling will come through their willing gifts.
But this passage is not merely about supplies, building plans, or offerings. It is a study of the heart. Why do the people give? What moves them? What does their generosity reveal? And how does this moment connect to Israel’s recent sin with the golden calf?
This sermon considers how true generosity flows from a heart humbled by sin, restored by mercy, and moved by the grace of God. Ultimately, Exodus 35 points us to Jesus Christ, the One who truly dwells with His people, and the One who did not merely give something costly, but gave Himself for sinners.
