What does the glory of the LORD look like among His people?
After all the Lord has done, after the plagues, the Passover, the Red Sea, Sinai, the covenant, the golden calf, Moses’ intercession, and the construction of the tabernacle, the book ends with this:
“Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.” (Exodus 40:34, ESV)
In this final sermon from Exodus, we see the tabernacle completed and the glory of the LORD fill it.
Exodus does not end merely with Israel escaping Egypt. It ends with God dwelling among His redeemed people and leading them by His presence.
But for Christians, the glory of God is not finally seen in a cloud over a tent. It is seen in Jesus Christ, especially at the cross, where God’s justice, mercy, holiness, and grace are revealed.
